If you are thinking of a Craigslist proxy, there are two ways of getting one. These being renting or setting up your own. So when should you rent and when should you setup one? If you are posting a lot of ads each day on Craigslist, you would probably be better off setting up your own proxy server. Just how much is a lot? Anymore than 50 a day, definitely look at setting up your own proxy instead of renting. Less than this and you should be ok with renting IPs from someone else. Renting IPs from other people is fine, but usually they come at a much higher price compared to setting up your own. If you need to post a lot of ads on Craigslist, look at investing into your own Craigslist proxy instead of renting from someone else. You will save a bundle of money.

If you are using an exclusive or proxy server for Craigslist that you setup yourself and are the only one with access, it should be safe to say that Craigslist is in the dark about your activities. However, if you are posting on Craigslist with a free or shared proxy server, then there is a good chance that everything you are doing is completely visible. Free or shared proxy servers typically perform poorly when compared with elite or exclusive proxy servers. The main reason is due to their how anonymous they are and that elite proxy servers typically can not be detetected as a proxy server. The other problem is that shared proxy servers might have many people doing the same thing with the allocated proxy IPs. Do you want to share a proxy server with 50 other people who are also posting on Craigslist? Obviously not. Finding that you always get ads flagged on Craigslist? The first misconception that I often see it people mistakenly believing that their ads being flagged has something to do with their IP address or their CL account. Usually this isn’t the problem.

If ads are flagged on Craigslist it is because visitors to Craigslist considered your ad spam or unappropriate, it has nothing to do with any kind of Craigslist detection. You will find that your ads are usually flagged for these reasons:

A. What you are posting on Craigslist is spam or perceived as spam. In terms of content, posting frequency or posting locations.

B. You have scum bag competitors that are selling / promoting the same thing you are. They will simply flag you off to remove the competition. There are actually groups of people who get together and do this.

Usually one of the above reasons is why your ad was flagged. It usually is not due to your Craigslist proxy.

Got a Craigslist Proxy and wondering if a username and password is really necessary?. No-one likes to constantly have to enter passwords repeatedly but don’t neglect them as they are essential. Don’t be fooled by thinking that just because there are so many other computers and IPs on the internet that the chances of finding your proxy server are zero. Technology today can allow someone to potentially find your proxy server with great ease by simply scanning IP ranges looking for servers that are not secured with a password. For this reason it is strongly suggested that you ALWAYS use a login and password on your proxy server. If someone else gains access to your proxy server then you can be held liable for any damages that they do through the use of it. Instead of not using a password, look to use software the can save usernames and passwords for the IP ports on your proxy to save time. Use these instead as they will achieve what you want (speeding up the login process) but also alow you to retain the high level of security that your Craigslist Proxy requires.

First, don’t use words that you think might not be suitable for the category. If posting to the for sale section, avoid posting unrelated ads such as work at home ads. Craigslist uses complex filters to try and stop people from posting ads in the wrong section. Each section on Craigslist is different and most likely uses a different set of filters. Second, avoid using any special html codes outside of what Craigslist supports. Craigslist may block any ads which use html codes that are not supported by their site. Third, limit how many ads you post from any one IP. Ideally you want to post no more than 1 ad per IP each day. Posting more than this this will work, but posting an excessive amount of ads increases the chances that you will be flagged. Finally, try to not use html imags. Some section do permit the use of html images but posting images still increases the chance your ad will be blocked. Other sections do not permit images at all and all ads with images are blocked.

Posting ads on Craigslist can be troublesome, but by following the above tips you should reduce the amount of trouble. You may also consider looking into a Craigslist proxy to improve the rate of your ads going live.

There are two main things that impact the number of IPs you should setup with your proxy server. First, how much money do you have and secondly how many ads do you want to post. If you don’t have enough IPs you can’t post enough ads. If you want to post a lot of ads buy as many IPs as your budget will allow you. Do you just need to post a couple of ads each day on Craigslist? Or would you prefer to post at least 100 ads everyday? Anyone who wants to be a casual poster and post only a few ads shouldn’t need more than 1 IP on their proxy server. Anymore than this would be a waste of money and resources. However, for those who want to post a large quantity of ads, such as 100 a day, they should invest in between 5 to 10 IPs to start. Generally speaking, for every IP that you have on your proxy server you can post approximately 10 ads. Using that rule you should be able to quickly figure out if you have enough IPs on your Craigslist proxy to safely post ads with.

For those who are going to setup their own Craigslist Proxy, making sure your IPs are from different C class IP ranges is something you should pay special attention to. C class IP ranges aren’t talked about much, but by not making sure you are using IPs on your proxy server from different C class IP ranges you are opening the door to be blocked by Craiglsist.

Their are 4 main ranges for IPs, A B C and D. These ranges are used to identify the network and network ID. Every computer online has an IP which allows it to communicate with other computers online, essentially functioning as an online mailing address or phone number. Most people know that by going offline and then back online you are able to change your IP, but usually the new IP you are assigned is within the same range. This makes it possible for networks to identify or make connections between user activity to identify what your new IP is as even though you did change your IP, it hasn’t changed enough so that one could make assumptions or try and track patterns of activity between your new and old IP. It is more than possible that this is exactly what Craigslist uses as part of their system to filter out spam. Making sure your proxy server has IPs from different C class IP ranges helps to prevent this problem.

As mentioned above, using IPs in the same C class IP range may make it possible for Craigslist to detect your activity even though you could be using several different accounts (since your new IP isn’t varied enough from the old one to make you look like a completely different user). This very same concept of using different C class IP ranges applies to proxy servers and is something you should pay great attention to. Usually, IPs that are assigned to proxy servers are normally within the same C class range, this is something you should try to avoid. Anonymity is very important for anyone posting on Craigslist, so be sure to get a Craigslist Proxy with IPs in different C class IP ranges.
